What is the WAVE club? The JFK Tourism WAVE club is designed to foster community under-standing and the support for the visitor industry. The club plans to educate the community on the benefits of tourism and increase awareness and knowledge of the contributions made by the visitor industry to the island of Guam. Anyone can join! The membership fee is only $3.00. WAVE club members are given the opportunity to take school field trips and various optional tours to hotels, golf courses, and other tourist sites throughout the island. It's an enlighting and fun experience for everyone! A meeting was held September 5 at Chief Brodie Elementary School where the nominated officers were required to make a speech on how they can best benefit the WAVE Club. President Bobbie Salas, Vice President Dawna Hernandez, Secretary Candace Franquez, Treasurer Joseph Valencia, Public Relations Officer Roxanne Vertulfo, and Historian Andrew Protasio were elected as the clubs officers. The first officers' meeting was held on September 10, 1997. The goals for the new school year were discussed and agendas were developed for later meetings. The advisors for the Tourism Wave Club are Mrs. Matilda Lizama, JFK Hotel/Motel instructor; and Mrs. Susan Seay, JFK Food and Beverage Instructor. Meetings are held every Thursday in room 120 for all members, and every Wednesday for the officers.
